Our City--A Junior Achievement Project
Junior Achievement volunteers teach us about how cities are zoned, how to read a blueprint to build a building, and how to advertise and plan a business! This study can happen at any point during the school year.

January is Peacemaking Month
During January we focus on the biographies and attitudes of peacemakers. We will read the biography of Martin Luther King. We will learn how nonviolence is a life practice. Along with this, we will begin to learn what civil rights and responsibilities are. We will examine our experiences in living them at school and in the community.
March is Women's History Month
In late February to March we are reading If You Lived When Women Won the Right to Vote. This gives us a perspective on why women's rights lead to a better life for men and women, boys and girls. We often take these for granted, but people had to really open their minds to believe that women were equal to all.
Asian-Pacific History Month
During May we prepare Culture Kits with countries chosen from many parts of Asia.
